Found out last night Father's Day 10K Race is canceled. A mixture of relief and mild disappointment. Disappointment, because I've been looking forward to run in 10K Race, to officially shake and bake my PR.
Whoa.....look at me.......two years ago, personal record wasn't part in my conversation. Two years ago I the only time I used PR was when I talked about some super fast runners like Joan Benoit's PR average 6 mins/mile. But I'm grateful that my long love for running have helped through difficult times. Running is like therapeutic on the move.
I haven't done much core training as much as I would like to, but I'm happy with some improvement I've noticed they way my body gradually accepted the changes. When I first started working on elbow plank, I only lasted 15 seconds and I couldn't do more than 2 repetition.
On the second week I could stretch to 20 seconds, and of course I would be huffing and puffing like a goldfish when I tried to hit 30 second. The good thing was I graduated to four repeat ion.
Every other day I add 2 seconds. They are days I don't feel feel like doing it at all, no matter how much I lace up or sugar coat the words. It just doesn't work. I guess having a personal coach would be lovely. When I get to 'don't feel like doing it' zone, I switch to some easier workouts : front lunge skipping and side skipping. And boy oh boy, skipping is fun. Without any effort, my face just break into huge smile while I skip. Amazing what a simple move can do to us.
This morning I managed to get 60 seconds for elbow plank and side plank withoug becoming a goldfish. But when on the fouth repeation, my side plank (left side) gave in at 45 seconds.
Another core workout that I really enjoy is superman fly. It is good for the back too. I make sure I do this workout no matter how lazy I become.
