During a session with my newest client a couple of days ago he casually mentioned robbing and stealing he used to to to feed his addictive. He has experimented all kinds of drugs since he was 9 years old. His boyish, freckled face, crew cut red hair and green eyes looks way younger than 23 years old.
He smoked marijuana before he learned to smoke cigarettes. He stole the cash and marijuana from his mother when she and her boyfriend were in a shower. A few days later he would steal some cash and marijuana from her mother's boyfriend.
He made sure his mother and the boy friend saw him leaving the apartment before both of them went into a bathroom. Once they were in the bathroom he would return to his mother's apartment, stole the cash the weed and left again before they came out of the bathroom.
"How did you know when to return to your mother's apartment?"
"I knew it. It was a pattern, Every time after they had sex, they smoke weed, before they had a shower together."
Robbing and stealing were fun too, he said
Tell me more about it.
You cannot simply rob or steal from people. You got to study them. If I were really desperate to get the fix I would steal. If I were not, I would rob.
Do you mean you watch them for a couple of days before you rob them? Were they men and women? Young and old?
I never robbed older people. I swear.
If you saw me walked down the street, would you rob me?
You mean if I didn't know you?
Hm..hmm..
I wouldn't rob you.
Why?
Because you don't look like you have a lot of money.
I was sipping my coffee when he said it. I almost sprayed my coffee.
You got that right.
You don't look like a person who carry a lot of cash. You must have a bank card with you, which won't do any good to me. Girls carry fancy pocket book and wear fancy shoes always carry a lot of money.
Really?
Yep.
So, what were your victims like? Who were they?
Immigrants mostly. Illegal immigrants. They got paid every Friday.
And they won't go to the police. But they have families back in their countries. They worked hard for their money, you know that.
I know that. I wouldn't do now. I would never had done it when I could think straight. But when I needed my fix, I didn't care.
Do you think you will do it again?
I don't know. I don't want to think about it, not yet. But now I have to maintain my sobriety.
