I couldn't help smiling when I left the interview side this afternoon. I got the waitressing job I've been hoping for. It's not a grand and fancy restaurant, but I'm in heaven all the same. I've wanted to work in a simple diner for a long time, and finally I got it. Besides the part-time job at the shelter, I don't have fixed income for the past four weeks. The job at the cafe didn't bring much money, I quit after four months. Everybody was nice, but it was not for me. I enjoy waitressing and this is what I'm good at.
A friend of mine asked me why don't I get a full time job with my associate degree in human service. It's true, I have a certificate in early childhood development too. But, I find my niche in waitressing. When I started waitressing job six years a go, I didn't expect to last, but I do.
After eight years in supervising job in a computer company, I found waitressing job is far more fulfilling.
Then why did you get a degree in human service, she asked. Why not, I said.
